A HIGHLY UNUSUAL LATE BAROQUE WALNUT AND MARQUETRY COMMODE

Probably Mainz. Circa 1720. Of finely finished walnut with boxwood inlay. The crossbanded rectangular top inlaid with a panel of foliated strapwork sand shaded marquetry above a cavetto frieze concealing a slim drawer. The front fitted with six cushion moulded drawers divided by an endgrain baguette moulded divisions. The sides similarly inlaid and to the right hand side a lock which secures all seven drawers. The whole raised on four turned walnut compressed bun feet.
